Praying & Meditating

Prayer and Meditation allows us to center ourselves and reconnect with our spirituality. As we refocus our attention from daily distractions, we can better become aware of our purpose and our vision becomes clearer. Prayer helps us to realign ourselves with God and allows us to better receive comfort and direction.

It Changes Me
I pray because I can’t help myself. I pray because I am helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn’t change God- it changes me.
C.S. Lewis

Personal Key
Prayer is your personal key to heaven.
Boyd K. Packer

  1. Prayer: the Power of Opening up the Windows of Heaven

Lately I have really come to enjoy and depend on the power of prayer in my life, yet before my husband’s death I often struggled to open the widows of heaven.  How do you take your prayers from simple pleadings, or rote recitations to powerful entreaties that call down...
  2. Greater Peace and Direction through More Powerful Prayer

We all see powerful inspirational pictures about prayer, like this one above, that in the moment give us a feeling of peace and a boost to tackle the day, but then later when we actually get around to praying we struggle to find any real spiritual...
  3. Flashbacks

Today has been one of “those” days.  I have been having flashbacks.  I am remembering the suffering.  I am remembering the days where Paul was vomiting over and over…there was nothing I could do…I felt so helpless.  I am remembering those words…”Paul is terminal.  There is nothing left to do…” ...

There is an unseen war going on here

There is an unseen war going on here between good and evil,  and our souls are the casualties.   More and more I feel that life here on earth is an illusion… It is a distraction to the real purpose.  Everyday we go through the motions of life thinking...

He pours hope back into my heart and I know that I will be okay

Everything is cloudy and dreary and bleak. My hope has been drained and the top of the mountain seems so, so far away. It is in these moments that I have a hard time praying. My heart knows that He is here and waiting for me to call on Him for help but I am just literally too tired and in so much pain, my faith wavers. Will a prayer really help take this all away? And even though my thoughts are weak and my heart is breaking… I kneel. My prayer is short, but oh-so sincere, and in the quiet of my home, I feel Him. He is there. And He pours hope back into my heart and I know that I will be okay.
